Primary 3 and Primary 4 Malay Language and Cultural Camp Conducted beyond the classroom and after school, this 2-hr camp seeks to make the learning of Malay language and culture more authentic and meaningful through interactive hands-on activities. Revolving around themes such as Malay performing arts and Malay traditional games, students learn new vocabulary pertaining to the themes as well as gain first-hand experience at trying out cultural related activities. Through this camp, our Primary 3 and Primary 4 students taking Malay Language experience joy of learning as they become more aware and appreciative of Malay language and culture.

Mother Tongue Fortnight Mother Tongue Fortnight provides a rich and immersive experience that allows students to discover, explore and connect with Malay language and culture in a meaningful way. During the event that spans across two weeks, students are actively engaged in a myriad of interactive classroom activities conducted in-house and by external vendors, as well as fun recess activities that are supported by parent volunteers.

Reading Programme The reading programme aims to cultivate a love for reading. This programme exposes students to a variety of genres for literacy development. Our Malay Language Class Library provides students with a variety of both fiction and non-fiction books. In class, students are given a platform to show their understanding of the books that they have read through book review sharing. In addition, ‘Mari Membaca’ magazine for lower and mid primary, as well as ‘Gen-G’ Malay newspaper for upper primary, further enhances students’ language development.

Internal Malay Language Competitions In conjunction with Bulan Bahasa or Malay Language Month which seeks to encourage the use and appreciation of the Malay Language, students across all levels participate in competitions related to Malay language, The language competitions organized include Spelling Bee for lower primary, Blooket Quiz on proverbs for mid-primary and debate for upper primary.

External Malay Language and Cultural Competitions Throughout the year, students are encouraged to participate in various Malay Language and Cultural competitions organized by external organizations and schools. These include short story writing competition, essay writing competition, storytelling competition, Sahibba (Malay Scrabble) and proverbs competition.
